Member Enrichments

Three places we return to all year

A large group opens doors a single family cannot: dedicated instructors, off-peak hours, and rates no one negotiates alone. Half the fun is showing up and running into friends.

Science Labs
A real lab bench, a museum educator, and a class sized for our families. Monthly, September through May.

Docent-led study of one collection at a time, with studio workshops at the Glassell School. Every other month.

Teen Lectures
University faculty teaching students in grades 9 to 12, in an actual lecture hall. First Fridays.

Three gatherings anchor the CHECH year: a fall celebration to open it, a winter open house to connect it, and a spring showcase to crown it.

Grades 9 to 12

Teens have their own calendar

First Friday lectures, University Day, honor society induction, graduation, and a scholarship that closes March 31. The deadlines arrive earlier than most families expect.

Before you register

Do I have to be a member to come?
Some gatherings are open to every Catholic family in Houston. Excursions are for members, because the group rates and access we negotiate depend on it.
How do I register?
Every excursion has its own card in the member portal with a registration deadline and a checkout link. Members register there, one family at a time.
What if an excursion fills?
Venues cap our group size, so popular sessions close early. Register when the card opens rather than near the deadline.
Are younger siblings welcome?
Almost always. A few programs are written for a specific age range, and when that is the case the card says so plainly.
Are the calendar listings CHECH events?
Mostly not. The community calendar collects what other parishes and organizations are hosting. Ours are marked, and they are the ones you register for through this site.
How do I hear about new events?
The Weekly Collect goes out every Wednesday with everything open, everything closing, and what is worth knowing about around town.

Before the Lesson

A guide before the month begins, then a story every Tuesday morning. A liturgical theme, a poem, a hymn, a composer, and printable art, delivered so your family can gather whenever gathering actually happens.
