A CHECH ORIGINAL
Before the Lesson
A monthly morning time for Catholic homeschool families โ a guide, a poem, a hymn, and a story, delivered before you need them and unfolded one week at a time.
WHY THIS RHYTHM
The Home Forms First
Long before any lesson is opened, the rhythms of a home are already shaping the people who live there: the habits it keeps, the things it loves, the moments it gathers. Before the Lesson gives that gathering a shape: one guide a month, one story a week, meant to be lived at the table, not graded in a workbook.
Every family finds its own hour. Some gather first thing in the morning. Some meet over lunch. Some save it for afternoon tea, when the littlest ones need a reset. Some wait until evening, when everyone is finally home and can sit still together. Before the Lesson doesn't ask for a particular hour, only the one that actually happens, week after week.
Some months are free for every family to explore. Others live in the CHECH membership library or are available to purchase on their own, each one marked clearly wherever you find it. Join in any month and you'll pick up right where the calendar is; there's nothing to catch up on. The stories themselves are drawn from the public domain and told by Mrs. Marie Romero of HomeLore.
Each month
The guide
A monthly packet, posted before the month begins: a liturgical theme with a short reflection, a poem, a seasonal hymn, a composer study, and printable art with attribution. Print it once and the month is set.
Each week
The Stories
One story every week, told by Mrs. Marie Romero of HomeLore, on video to watch together and in audio in the members' podcast. Always in the same order, simplest to richest:
Fable ยท Folk tale ยท Fairy tale ยท Myth ยท Legend
