May belongs to Our Lady. It always has. Long before lesson plans and end-of-year testing, Catholic families crowned Mary with flowers and prayed the Rosary together in the evening light. This is a tradition worth keeping. As the school year winds down and the days grow longer, let May be the month your family returns to the simplest devotions. Set up a small May altar with a statue or image of Mary, fresh flowers, and a candle. Pray a decade of the Rosary together after dinner. Let your children crown her with whatever is blooming in the yard. These are the things they will remember long after they have forgotten what was on the test. Mary does not ask for perfection. She asks for presence. Be present to her this month, and let her be present to you.
