This past Sunday the Church stepped back from the narrative of salvation history and asked us simply to gaze at who God is. Not what he has done for us, but who he is in himself: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three Persons, one God, a communion of love so complete that it overflows into creation. This is the deepest mystery of our faith, and it is also the most practical. Every Catholic family is built in the image of the Trinity. Not because we get it right, but because love in a family is never a straight line between two people. It circulates. It pours out and returns. The father gives to the mother, the mother gives to the children, the children give back in ways no one expected, and somehow in the giving and receiving there is more, not less. That is the life of God. That is what your home is practicing every day, even on the days it doesn't feel like it. You are living inside the mystery you cannot fully explain. That is exactly where God wants you.

CHECH & Catholic Literary Arts — What We're Building Together

This year CHECH is partnering with Catholic Literary Arts to bring the Catholic literary tradition to Houston homeschool families, and we're just getting started. CLA generously donated scholarships for their summer writing camps, giving CHECH students the chance to attend at no cost. Next week, campers head to UST for the Fearless Catholic Writing Camp (grades 3–8) and the High School Writers Institute.  A week of fiction, poetry, sacred story, and creative nonfiction with professional Catholic writers.

The 2026 Archdiocesan Alleluia Poetry Contest invites students in grades 7–12 to compose their own canticle of praise inspired by St. Francis of Assisi's Canticle of All Creatures. Submissions due September 10. View the contest flyer.

Looking ahead to 2026–2027, we're building new programming with CLA for middle school and high school students. More details coming this fall.
