St. Mary Magdalene

Today the Church honors the woman Christ chose to hear the news first. Not Peter. Not John. Mary Magdalene — the one who followed him from Galilee, who stood at the cross when the others ran, and who went to the tomb before dawn because she could not stay away. She didn't recognize him at first. Then he said her name. One word. That was all it took. Faithfulness is not dramatic. It is showing up before dawn, doing the next thing, and trusting that Christ knows your name even when you cannot see him clearly. She didn't have a plan that morning. She had love. It was enough.

"I have seen the Lord." — John 20:18

Look Up

Summer nights are made for stargazing. Step outside after dark, turn off the porch light, and give your eyes twenty minutes to adjust. No telescope. No app. Just look up. Challenge your family: find a constellation you can name, then find one you can't and learn its myth. After you've tried with just your eyes, point your phone at the sky with SkyView Lite (iPhone) or Sky Map (Android) and let it name what you found. Want to go deeper? George Observatory in Needville offers summer Saturday stargazing.
