The Assumption

This Saturday the Church celebrates the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary — the day Mary was taken body and soul into heaven. Because the feast falls on a Saturday this year, the obligation to attend Mass is lifted, but the invitation remains. For many of you it lands right in the first week of your new school year. Before the routines have fully set, before the year has found its rhythm, the Church asks you to stop and look up. Mary's Assumption tells us where all of this is headed. Every lesson, every prayer, every hard day at the kitchen table is ordered toward heaven. She got there first. She is waiting for us. Consider attending Mass on Saturday. Light a candle. Ask for her intercession over the year ahead.

"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior." — Luke 1:46–47

Make Time for This

A monthly challenge for your family

Have a family game night. Pull out the cards, the board games, the dice. No screens. Let the kids pick. Let it get loud.  The school year just started and everyone is adjusting. Before the routines harden, make a memory that has nothing to do with a lesson plan.
